our snowy house and yard

views of our yard and house during the snowy day, we loved icicles - see those hanging from the house,we get huge ones.

Shawn looking at teh snowdrift up against our back door

our friend Torpedo

while volunteering at the shelter yesterday the girls made friends with Torpedo a small english pointer- he was small but very strong he drug my stepdad across the playyard :-)- He was thrilled to get outside in the snow and get some extra fun time.

Madeline spent a lot of time with the bunnies, too, and has been talking nonstop about them. quess what she wants for a pet now:-)

for the birds

we have been feeding the birds and watching them, its a family favorite past time, even our cat Ruby loves it, she looks like she is waiting for one to fly to close to the window:-) We made peanut butter balls, thanks to Diane at Heart to Heart with Diane , for the idea we usually do the pine cones so the balls where a bit different and fun, the kids also made heart shaped treats, for valentines gifts. Maybe we will do some shamrocks for St.Patties Day.

our snowy day fun

Our day of playing in the snow:-) Shawn went out for a little while till he lost his mitten and got his hand cold then he was done. Madeline didn;t feel good so didn't go out. She did play the wii though:-) I think Bandit had the best time, we let him out he jumped off the porch and dove face first into the snow. They all came in and warmed up by the fire-even Bandit

green eggs and ham

well or at least green eggs bacon and pears, was our Dr.Seuss feast yesterday. Grace helped cook and eveyrone ate, Adam had three plates- alot for him. The bacon was so good I cook it in the oven on my broiler pan so theres no fat, it is so good.

We Are Family

Dr. Suess's Birthday

and least we forget today is Dr.Seuss's birthday and Read across America Day. So for us that means a lot- we love Dr. Seuss, and will read a ton of stories by the fire, and make hats- of course-, and have green eggs and ham for dinner tonight. I actually have a bible study based on the seussical books and how they where written with an underlying christian tone. I am going to use that today with Cat In The HAT, Horton Hears a Who and The Grinch- who I think is the most obvious of a bible based story- his sin, redemption and salvation-.

And with the snow it makes for a good afternoon of story telling by the fire with popcorn.

In like a lion

March certainly is coming in with a ROAR, we woke up to 6 inches of snow and wind this morning, my kids are thrilled to pieces and are outside screaming their heads off:-) We honestly don't; get much real snow here on the eastern seaboard, more of a slushy mix precept, which is yucky and no fun at all. So this honestly is a great treat for us. So needless to say our actual school day is starting late- yes we will still do school unfortunately our school does not close due to weather issues, though we can take a VERY long recess:-) and We can play outside late into the evening when daddy gets home and lights the outside fire pit - we do this every time it snows, lite the outside fire and cook hot coco and marshmallows on it and play under the night sky-. He also takes them back in the fields to the hills and they sled.

Ooh its a very happy chilly, snowy hot coco kind of day

Prayers for a dear Aunt

we just found out my hubby's Aunt Joan - who lives In Georgia- has breast cancer. the mass seems to be rather big and they are treating it very aggressively, radiation to shrink then remove then more chemo/radiation. Pleas keep her in your prayers , her husband Tom and daughter Erin- all in the picture with her- too.She says she has met some wonderful women who are very supportive - those who have walked this walk before her-they must be some amazing strong women, I would love to meet them. And she has put this in God's hands. Really the only place you can he has a plan for us all, and only he knows what that is.
