MId-Atlantic Reptile Show

We attended the Mid-Atlantic Reptile Show last weekend. My kids loved it, they are big time animal people, and love all creatures. I had never seen so many snakes, lizards,and frogs in one place before. There was much to see and much to learn. WE all enjoyed the adventure.There where many interesting people to talk to as well.







looking at some of the many many snakes that where there with the breeders so many beautiful creatures I had no idea of all the colors and sizes in the world. Shawn liked seeing them since most where moving and at his eye level. I will say all the breeders where so interesting to talk to and answered endless questions from my kids. and many let them hold whatever they wanted.there of course where also booths with toys, and books, and shirts for sale. Grace an Madeline's favorite attraction- shopping!;-)







How about this huge tortoise, who was only$799, WOW!! Adam and Grace thought it was 7.99, no not even close. Should have seen their faces when I said no it was almost 800$.He was a sweet guy though an let us touch him all over and feed him some carrots.



This was Grace's favorite trip of the year, she is my no fear of anything child. She loves all creatures, great and small and wanted to hold everything.

We are now reading up and studying the bearded dragon all the kids feel in love with those little lizards, and want one. However , they and I are researching them out first, reptiles are so sensitive to changes in the environment and need very special care. We have to understand all that is involved before we bring one to live with us.

Bandit and Ruby

these are our other sweeties:-) I don;t know that we will get a photo of Bandit and Daisy very soon, so here he is solo.

Ruby is walking around all puffed out three times her size she is quite funny. I am hoping to get a photo of all of us over the fall/holidays .

Bandit an Ruby where both rescued pets, and they are now very spoiled loved animals, Bandit is about 10 so he is getting older showing the grey a bit walking a bit achy.Ruby actually was a kitten when we got her last fall so she is a bout a year old now, she is a ball of energy.-and a very good mouser too:-)-.

Our New Baby

Is home, we went and got her yesterday. We did change her name so she is Daisy not Hazel. Adam had a hard time saying the other name so we choose this one- even Shawn can cal her:-)-. She was a wiggly and squirmy puppy.

She did have her first people food:-} My dogs have never gone scrap free, they quickly learn under the high chair is the place to be:-) And Bandit gets an oxtail on the grill every weekend, so I am sure Daisy will too.





Hanging out with the kids who are so in love wiht her. She is doing good. Very laid back and mellow , loves to give doggie kisses and be cuddled. Just wait till all 85lbs of her crawls in thier laps:-)




Daisy is so sweet and is going to be very spoiled I am sure. Our yellow lab Bandit is okay with her so far. She keeps trying to cuddle him and he is not really happy with that. But who knows in a few days he may be a bit more relaxed about her. Right now he just keeps hiding his ball from her,

Lydia is all grown-up

This is Lydia wondering our yard freely she had been out of her enclosure for good for about a week, just wondering and eating bugs and checking everything out.Well July the fifth she discovered freedom all on her own, and how good it felt and we are so happy for her.





Lydia found her own way into the river and was off like a bullet. She is so happy and diving and splashing all over. She has since found a group of ducks she seems to swim with, which is wonderful for her, she needs to learn things from them we cannot show her. So it is so wonderful to see her so happy and well. Madeline is still a bit teary eyed, but, knows if she had not saved her she would not have this chance to go out an be a big duck. And who knows next year she may come back and build her nest right here. She still thinks Madeline is her mom, and comes to her when she calls her.






We feel so blessed to have had a hand in helping one of Gods little ones grow and then letting it go home. - reminds me of the day my chicks will leave the nest , made me a bit teary eyed myself-.Perhaps the lessons where meant for me more then the kids.

animal rescue and new friends

in the past week or two several new families have joined our home school group and they are all into doing animal rescue which is right up Madeline;s alley:-)One does American Bulldogs, one does Cocker Spaniels, another does guinea pigs- which made me smile- . We are very excited to meet some of these folks, we are animal people too- tough Doug isn't so much-and it will be interesting to talk to others involved in saving gods most innocents the ones who cannot talk for themselves. I just printed off the form for Madeline to volunteer at the Harford County Animal Shelter. I will go with her it is only 2 hours a month for 6 months,but I have a feeling we will be there more often then that. They have two guinea pigs that need homes something tells me they will be living with us very soon;-)

as you may know we are the proud owners of three sweet piggies, Knickknack, Max, and Ginger,(our fourth Hershey died around Easter. She had a cold and when she went to the vet had a heart attack on the table and died very fast ,, and completely broke Madeline's heart:-{-.Anyhow the kids- as I call them are doing well getting big and they whistle and sing and love to see us, they give hugs and lovings often.Well now Grace's ,bff, Victoria ,is adopting one this week, very exciting indeed. we are looking forward to meeting him/her should be interesting.

we love dogs

we love doggies:-) especailly our Bandit:-) we have been thinking of adopting another dog from the Humane Society once our remodel is done. I think it would be fun. and if we get one now while we have Bandit, a pup tends to follow the older dog as far as potty training and all goes so who knows could be an adventure in itself.
